Are you passionate about helping other caregivers?
We are looking for energetic volunteers to help us encourage caregivers. Whether you're a current or former caregiver, or you just want to be supportive, we welcome you to apply for our Friends of Caregivers program.
What does the program entail?
We request at least a 3 month commitment (but we'll certainly keep you for longer if you want). Our Friends of Caregivers program requires about 1 hour of your time per week. We'll partner you with a caregiver from our network who needs some support. You'll be our head and heart when it comes to caring for that beautiful soul for at least 12 weeks (3 months).
You'll have the following simple, but very impactful tasks:
- Communicate (by text or voice) with the caregiver we partner with you
Your conversations could be as short as 30 minutes a couple of times per week, or 1 hour on a weekend--that's completely up to you and your match. You'll also choose the topic of conversations with your match. You might discuss the struggles your match faced this week, a new cooking recipe, or the football game. All that we care about is that you communicate and allow them to have an outlet when they need it.
- Send 1 care package to your match during the 3 months
Our caregivers are constantly giving--of themselves, their time, and often their financial and other resources. We'd like to give back to them. We encourage you to spend your conversations getting to know your match so that you can send them a meaningful care package. At UCG, we can't disclose our customers' physical addresses, so we'll leave it up to you and your match to discuss where to ship the care package or whether you'd prefer to send a virtual care package. However you handle it, we just want you to make sure they feel loved on. And remember, (1) quality over quantity, and (2) it's not about how much money you spend, but all about the thought you put into it.
